Factor M

. jueves, 8 de mayo de 2008

"The M factor is a term coined by Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie in their fantastic series of books, ´Harrington on Hold Ém´ a must for any poker players looking to improve their game.

Simply, you ´M´ factor is the number of inflection points a player has. You have a ´M´ factor of 100. The ´M´ factor is a very simply mathematical variant whereby you simply divide your chip stack by the amount of blinds. Consider: the blinds are 10/20 and you have a stack of 3000 chips. This means that you have 100x the blinds, leaving you in a great position to wait for premium hands before playing.

Obviously, as your chip stack decreases so does your ´M´ factor, meaning that you should be playing a wider range of hands as you have less equity to wait for premium hands. Indeed, popular opinion now states that any ´M´ of less than 6 should see be seen as panic time… choose a hand and push all-in! Good luck!"
